In 79 A.D. there was a cataclysmic volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius near the ancient city of Pompeii. Home to many thousands of people the city was discovered under many feet of earth and volcanic ash. Among the ashes the archeologists found the remains of a dog. The cast of the dog’s body was found lying over the body of a young child along with her engraved collar name “Delta” with her owner’s name – Severinus. They also found on the collar Delta’s heroic deeds who had saved Severinus’ life on three separate occasions. The first time was when Delta had saved him from drowning. The second time Delta had defended Severinus from 4 attackers who had tried to rob him. The third time, she had defended him from a wolf that tried to attack him. Delta being the heroic dog she was, tried once more to save the life of a child whose body was found under hers. We believe the spirit of love, sacrifice and care runs in every pet beyond the boundaries of time and space as was in “Delta”. For this, they deserve to be cared for and that is what we are dedicated to.
